Wema Sepetu's Sister Sunna Sepetu Convicted In a US Money Laundering Case

Sunna Sepetu and her co-accused, Nafise Quaye, residents of Worcester, Massachusetts, were found guilty of conspiracy to launder money derived from wire fraud in a federal court in the United States on March 28, 2024. 

According to a statement from the US Attorney's office in the District of New Hampshire, US Attorney Jane E. Young revealed that the defendants knowingly accepted approximately $3.2 million in wire fraud proceeds from a victim in Texas between 2013 and 2019.

These funds were then transferred to bank accounts set up by the defendants for various shell companies. 

Subsequently, the defendants forwarded the fraud proceeds to the perpetrator of the fraud in Africa, while retaining a portion of the proceeds for themselves.

The presiding judge is scheduled to announce the sentencing of the defendants on July 8, 2024. 

Notably, Sunna Sepetu is identified as the sister of Wema Sepetu, the 2006 Miss Tanzania.
