A family of four tragically perished in a car accident near the Tenwek Bridge on the Bomet-Olenguruone road after their vehicle collided with a lorry and plunged into the river.

Bomet Central Sub-county police commander Musa Omar confirmed the heartbreaking incident, revealing that the family was traveling in a saloon car when it collided with a lorry on the bridge, propelling their vehicle into the river below.
Both vehicles were heading towards Silibwet when the collision occurred, according to Omar.
The impact of the crash caused the saloon car to plunge into the deep waters below, resulting in the immediate loss of all occupants.

Efforts by police and bystanders led to the recovery of three bodies - a male and two females - from the submerged vehicle.
Their remains were transported to a mortuary at Longisa Hospital. However, the search continues for the body of a minor who remains missing in the aftermath of the tragic accident.
Omar described the incident as "unfortunate," detailing how the submerged car was swept approximately 50 meters downstream by powerful floods before coming to a halt against trees along the riverbank. The vehicle was subsequently retrieved from the water and impounded by authorities.
Meanwhile, the driver of the lorry involved in the collision fled the scene, prompting a police search.
The driver is expected to provide a statement to authorities regarding the accident. Additionally, the wreckage of the ill-fated car has been moved to Bomet police station as part of ongoing investigations.

The aftermath of the accident led to significant traffic congestion along the Olenguruone-Bomet road, causing a lengthy delay for commuters.
