Lizz Wanyoike, the visionary behind the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS), passed away at 72, as officially conveyed by her family in a heartfelt eulogy this Sunday. 

Her demise, occurring on January 14, is ascribed to an undisclosed illness.

Wanyoike, renowned for her transformative journey from educator to the founder of an educational institution specializing in business-related programs, leaves behind a rich legacy that encompasses the Emory Hotel and the Lizzie Wanyoike Preparatory School.

The family's eulogy acknowledges Wanyoike as a prominent figure in the realms of education and entrepreneurship, recognizing her profound impact on countless lives.

"In fond memory of an extraordinary educator, whose passion ignited minds and kindness touched hearts," reads the eulogy shared by her family. "A beacon of wisdom, she leaves an indelible mark on numerous lives, shaping futures with grace."

Kenyans and leaders alike have extended their condolences to her family. Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo mourned Wanyoike as a source of inspiration, stating, “Liz was not merely a great businesswoman but a source of inspiration for many. Her legacy and impact will always be remembered,” in a message posted on X.

Kimani Ichungwah, the Majority Party leader in the National Assembly, also conveyed condolences to Wanyoike's family on X, describing the late businesswoman as an educational icon. 

“The nation mourns the loss of an education icon, Madam Liz Wanyoike, founder and Director of Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS).
