In a deeply unsettling turn of events, the Nairobi police are actively probing the mysterious death of an unidentified woman, whose dismembered remains were uncovered at an Airbnb residence in Roysambu.

The disconcerting narrative began when a male guest, responsible for reserving the accommodation, returned the key early on a Sunday morning and promptly disappeared.

Risper Muthoni, the manager of the Airbnb property, disclosed that the unknown suspect had secured the room the previous Saturday at 3 p.m. The shocking revelation only came to light on Sunday morning, triggered by the caretaker's report of discovering suspicious polythene bags and a blood-soaked bedsheet on the staircase.

Despite numerous attempts to elicit a response, Muthoni and her team entered the unlocked room, revealing a seemingly normal scene except for bloodstains at the door, prompting them to report the incident at Kasarani police station.

Muthoni provided the police with the suspect's identity and pertinent CCTV footage from the location where the keys were picked up.

Law enforcement officials were observed handling polythene bags and a blood-soaked bedsheet, believed to contain the deceased woman's remains.

Jimmy Kimari, the head of Kasarani Divisional Criminal Investigations, issued a stern warning of impending crackdowns on Airbnb operators lacking security cameras and urged comprehensive guest records.

This grim discovery follows closely on the heels of the arrest of John Matara, a suspected serial offender implicated in the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu within another Nairobi Airbnb.

Wahu's lifeless body was found in a pool of blood, accompanied by incriminating evidence such as HIV test kits, used condoms, drugs, alcohol, and a blood-stained kitchen knife.

Reports suggest signs of a struggle between Wahu and her assailant, with Matara hastily leaving the premises in bloodstained clothes.

He was subsequently apprehended at Mbagathi Hospital, where he was receiving treatment for a stab wound to his stomach. Wahu was laid to rest on Saturday in her parents' home in Ruai's Kamulu area.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) indicates ongoing investigations point to a potential serial sexual offender thriving on blackmail, possibly part of a criminal ring targeting women through dating sites and social media.
