Court Frees Two Nigerians Linked To Rita Waeni Murder

 

The two suspects, William Ovie Opia and JohnBull Asibor, were arraigned before the Chief Magistrate, Makadara Law Courts, on Monday, a week after the murder at a rented room in Roysambu.

Court Frees Two Nigerians Linked To Rita Waeni Murder

William Ovie Opia and Johnbull Asbour, Nigerian nationals held in connection to the murder of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student Rita Waeni, have been released by the Makadara Law Court. They had been in police custody since January 22, 2024.

Initially detained for investigation purposes, the court has now allowed their release, directing them to appear before investigators weekly, as per Magistrate Agnes Mwangi's orders.

The prosecution has stated that investigations into the case are still ongoing.

Waeni was tragically discovered deceased on January 14, 2024, in a short-term accommodation apartment in Nairobi's Roysambu area. 

Her body had been dismembered, with her head missing. Subsequently, her head was found at a dam in Kiambu County on January 21.

Waeni was laid to rest in a private ceremony on February 5, 2024.
