An 18-year-old pregnant girl from Mbiuni is hospitalized after being brutally attacked by her boyfriend.
Authorities are searching for the suspect, who remains at large.
An 18-year-old girl from Mbiuni in Mwala Subcounty is receiving treatment at Machakos Level 5 Hospital after a brutal attack by her 22-year-old boyfriend, Brian Waita.
Ndanu, who is 23 weeks pregnant, sustained deep cuts to her neck and a broken arm in the violent assault.
The incident took place after what seemed like a normal day. Ndanu recounted that the couple had lunch together before Waita left, saying he was going to fetch a donkey for the market.
Upon his return, he washed his shirt while Ndanu rested. Suddenly, she found herself on the floor, bleeding from a vicious attack to her neck and arm.
In shock and pain, she crawled to the bed and managed to call a neighbor for help after Waita fled, locking her inside the house.
A local man climbed through the roof and unlocked the door, allowing her to be rescued.
By the time police arrived, Ndanu had already been rushed to Masii Level 3 Hospital, where she received initial treatment before being transferred to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for specialized care.

"I still can’t believe my husband, who has always been loving and caring, did this to me," Ndanu said tearfully. The couple has no children, but she is expecting their first.
Juliana Mwendwa, Nursing Service Manager at Machakos Level 5, confirmed that Ndanu had suffered severe injuries, including deep cuts to her neck and arm.
"She arrived unconscious but is now stable and recovering in the orthopedic ward," Mwendwa said, expressing concern about the growing cases of gender-based violence in the county.
Mwala OCPD Muthoni Wahome confirmed that investigations are underway, and authorities are actively searching for the suspect, who remains at large since the attack.
