Three of 20 Suspects Arrested in Connection with Mombasa Blogger's Assault

Police in Mombasa are holding three suspects believed to be part of a group of more than 20 individuals involved in the sexual assault of a 25-year-old blogger.

According to County Criminal Investigation Officer James Lelia, one of the suspects, a male, is accused of committing the assault, while the other two, both female, are believed to have orchestrated the crime.

Amateur footage from a local restaurant shows one of the female suspects being arrested by plain-clothed detectives who had been trailing the suspects for some time. Lelia confirmed that the trio is being held at a police station for interrogation and is set to be arraigned on Monday to face charges related to the incident, which took place in Bamburi.

As investigations continue, authorities are actively searching for additional suspects involved in the crime.

Human rights groups in Mombasa have strongly condemned the assault and called on the police to speed up the investigation process to ensure justice is served.
