Comedian Felix Omondi, widely known as Dr. King’ori, has shared insights into his recent decision to leave Nation Media Group (NMG) after a decade-long tenure.
Speaking on the Mic Cheque Podcast, he also explained his choice to retain the rights to his popular show, "The Wicked Edition," which now continues on his YouTube channel.
Reflecting on his departure, Dr. King’ori described it as a timely and fulfilling decision. He revealed that when he joined NMG, he had hoped to stay for ten years, a wish that was ultimately realized.
“I chose to leave, and I think it was a prayer answered. When I joined Nation, Kazungu (Captain Otoyo) mentioned he had been there for ten years, and I told God, can I be there for ten years? When I was leaving, I noticed it had been exactly that,” he shared.
While acknowledging the support he received during his time at NMG, Dr. King’ori noted a shift in the energy among some colleagues that contributed to his decision to depart.

He pointed out that negative attitudes began to permeate the workplace, affecting the quality of his work.
“We got legit support at Nation, but I felt a negative vibe from some people who had supported us. They started whispering toxic vibes that reflected back on the show,” he explained.
To avoid these distractions from impacting his production, King’ori felt it was best to step away from NMG.
“I don’t love being distracted, so I thought instead of affecting the quality of what we did, let me just quit,” he said, adding that he harbors no animosity toward his colleagues, understanding that external factors may have influenced their attitudes.
Regarding his decision to retain the rights to "The Wicked Edition," Dr. King’ori attributed it to the show's initial undervaluation by some within the company.
“I think the show was underestimated by some people at the company. Media can be a beast; if they want to bring you down, they can,” he noted.
Despite speculation that "The Wicked Edition" would end with its last airing on NTV on January 12, 2024, King’ori clarified that his decision to continue the show independently was not a reaction to NMG’s editorial changes.
