A tragic fire in Ndeda Island, Bondo sub-county, claimed the life of a 4-year-old boy, Master Zedrick Ogutu, while his mother sustained injuries trying to rescue him. The fire, suspected to have originated from a fault in a solar battery, also resulted in property damage and is under investigation by authorities.
In Kirinyaga County, a 36-year-old man, Edwin Mwendia, died in a separate fire incident at Kathare village, Gichugu Constituency. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and Mwendia's body has been taken to the mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.

The boy, along with his mother Glorious Awuor, was inside the house when the fire broke out around 3:00 am.
Siaya County Police commander Cleti Kimaiyo reported that Assistant Chief Patrick Gimona of Uyawi sub-location notified the Bondo police station about the incident.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that the fire originated in the rented house of Vitalis Ogutu while his wife and son were alone at home, as Vitalis was fishing in Lake Victoria at the time.

Glorious Awuor sustained burns on her arms and lower limbs while attempting to rescue her son, who tragically succumbed to the fire.
The fire, suspected to be caused by a fault in a solar battery, destroyed property including a motorcycle, gas cylinder, boat engine, and household items.
Glorious Awuor was taken to Ndeda Island dispensary for treatment, while the boy's body was transferred to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
In a separate incident in Kirinyaga County, tragedy unfolded in Kathare village, Karumandi ward, Gichugu Constituency, where a 36-year-old man, Edwin Mwendia, lost his life in a fire.
The fire, which occurred on Saturday night, resulted in Mwendia being burnt beyond recognition. Mwendia had been living in a separate house with his twin brother following their parents' demise two years ago.

Residents reported that the fire consumed Mwendia's wooden house before police arrived at the scene in response to raised alarms.
Gichugu sub-county police commander Johnson Wachira stated that an investigation into the incident has been launched, and Mwendia's body was transported to the mortuary as authorities work to determine the exact cause of the fire.
