Four Dead, Several Injured As Matatu Rolls In Kirinyaga

Last evening, tragedy struck in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County, claiming the lives of at least four individuals in a devastating accident involving a matatu. 

The vehicle, operated by Kukena Sacco, veered out of control while navigating a sharp bend in the Koroma area along the Kerugoya-Ngaru-Gatuto road. 

The driver's loss of control led to the matatu rolling repeatedly on the tarmac before finally coming to a halt in a ditch at the roadside.

According to a police report from the scene, the impact of the accident resulted in the immediate death of the four victims. 

Among them were two adult males, one adult female, and a young girl. Several other occupants of the matatu sustained injuries and were promptly evacuated to various hospitals within Kirinyaga County for medical attention.

This tragic incident adds to a string of recent fatalities on Kenyan roads. Just a week prior, eleven students from Kenyatta University lost their lives in a horrific collision at Maungu in Voi. 

The students, en route to Mombasa, were aboard a university bus that collided with a trailer on the bustling Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
