President Ruto Asked To Provide Employment For Widow Of Late Marathoner Kelvin Kiptum

During the funeral service of late marathoner Kelvin Kiptum in Chepkorio, Keiyo South Member of Parliament Gideon Kimaiyo appealed to President William Ruto, urging him to provide employment opportunities to Asenath Rotich, Kiptum's widow. 

Kimaiyo highlighted the significant financial burden faced by the family after Kiptum's passing, suggesting that state employment for Asenath could help alleviate their struggles. 

He emphasized the importance of supporting Kiptum's family during this challenging time, especially considering the loss of their main breadwinner.

Kimaiyo's sentiments were echoed by Athletics Kenya President Jackson Tuwei, who called upon Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wesley Rotich to secure employment for Asenath within the county. 

Tuwei stressed the importance of allowing Asenath to remain close to her family as she continues to care for her children in the wake of Kiptum's untimely death. 

This call for assistance from both political and athletic leaders underscores the community's recognition of the hardships faced by Kiptum's family in the aftermath of his tragic accident.

In addition to calls for immediate support, plans were announced by Golazo, a sports consulting company that Kiptum was associated with, to establish the Kelvin Kiptum Foundation in honor of the late marathoner.
