Morocco's coach, Walid Regragui, admitted to making mistakes as his team settled for a 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo in an Africa Cup of Nations Group F match on Sunday.

Despite Achraf Hakimi's early goal, the Leopards managed to level the score in 76 minutes with a shot from substitute Silas Katompa Mvumpa, following Cedric Bakambu's missed penalty.

In Group E, South Africa bounced back from a loss to Mali with a convincing 4-0 win over Namibia in Korhogo, with Themba Zwane scoring twice. Morocco currently holds four points from two matches, DR Congo and Zambia have two each, and Tanzania has one.

Regragui, who was named African Coach of the Year at the recent CAF awards, expressed regret over his second-half substitutions, stating that they did not work effectively.

He acknowledged tactical errors, mentioning that they retreated too much and left space for the Congolese to make a comeback.

Silas, the substitute for DR Congo, was named the man of the match but expressed disappointment with the result despite being happy with the individual award.

Defending champions Senegal's coach, Aliou Cisse urged organizers to reconsider match times due to extreme heat.

Tanzania, aiming for their first Cup of Nations win in 44 years, had their hopes dashed by Zambia forward Patson Daka's late header.

Zambia, down to 10 men after captain Roderick Kabwe's dismissal, secured a draw. Themba Zwane shone for South Africa, scoring two goals in a 4-0 win over Namibia, but their last-16 spot is not guaranteed, with Mali leading Group E with four points.

The match concluded the tournament's 1400 local (GMT) time kickoffs, providing relief from scorching temperatures, prompting Senegal's coach to call for a rethink of future match schedules.
