Remains of Missing Utawala Cab Driver Discovered in Murang'a Dam

The body of the Utawala taxi driver, Evans Moracha, who had been reported missing and was later found dumped in Maragua Dam in Murang’a, has been recovered by the police.

Evans Moracha body found dead in Murang'a county

On October 14, Murang'a police discovered Moracha's lifeless body and initially listed it as an unidentified individual, marking two days after he had gone missing from his residence in the Mihango area of Utawala.

Positive identification of Moracha's remains was made at the morgue on Monday.

Law enforcement authorities are presently seeking a 21-day detention period for Moracha's wife to facilitate further investigative procedures.

Moracha's wife was apprehended a week following her submission of a suspicious missing person report. Police have disclosed that she was the last person to have contact with Moracha, shortly before he was picked up from his residence during the night.

The wife, however, has denied any communication with her husband on the day of his disappearance, asserting that he did not return home from work.

Contradictorily, police reports have indicated that the tracking system of his vehicle revealed he arrived at his residence and subsequently departed.

The vehicle's tracking system displayed a series of movements, starting from the Chokaa area at 1:44 AM on a Thursday, proceeding along Kangundo Road, passing through Sagana at 03:49 AM, and Kirinyaga just 54 minutes later.

At 06:50 AM, the vehicle was recorded in Kasarani, Nairobi, before making stops at the Astrol Petrol Station in Runda, moving through Gitaru, and then reaching Ongata Rongai at 10:02 AM.

Subsequently, the vehicle was sighted at South C at 11:09 AM and Airport South Road in Pipeline at 3:01 PM before being abandoned in the Njiiru area of Nairobi.

Police investigations have indicated that Moracha was picked up during the night by unidentified individuals.

George William, Moracha's uncle, noted, "As he disappeared on Wednesday, it showed that he was picked up from his house at around 1.58 a.m."

Moracha's family has expressed their bewilderment at how someone could be taken from his own home without the knowledge of the family. They have described him as a modest and non-confrontational individual.
