The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a new probe into the 1969 assassination of Tom Mboya, prompted by recent revelations in a Saturday Nation article. 

The article, published on July 6, 2024, featured 92-year-old Ndwiga Kathamba Muruathika, who disclosed his alleged involvement in Mboya's death, including purchasing the murder weapon. 

Ndwiga, also known as Ndume, resides in Runyenjes, Embu County, and recounted being part of a mission to eliminate Mboya, trailing him until his assassination on July 5, 1969, and procuring the pistol from the Kenya-Somalia border black market.

In response, the DCI emphasized the significance of Ndwiga's account, acknowledging the need for further investigation into the matter as per their statement released regarding the article.
