In a banditry attack on the road between Mainonin and Loruk in Baringo County, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer and a woman sustained serious injuries. 

The incident, occurring on a Saturday mid-morning, unfolded just meters away from the Moinonin IDP camp, where about 100 armed bandits targeted eight families, making off with over 140 goats.

The area, previously plagued by insecurity prompting some residents to flee, witnessed a resurgence of violence as people began returning to their homes. 

Responding swiftly, the KDF dispatched three helicopters to the scene: two pursued the assailants, while the third airlifted the injured officer to safety.

Military action ensued, with gunship aircraft targeting the bandits' hideouts with missiles and bombs.
