A retired prison officer hailing from Transmara, Narok County, who stands accused of orchestrating the killings of two of his former colleagues, has been apprehended in the Maasai Mara National Park, where reports suggest he had been residing among the wildlife in the bush.
Identified as Pius Lemiso Ndiwa, also known as Shonimeu, he was discovered by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) around 11 pm on Tuesday, following days of evading law enforcement's pursuit. Ndiwa was promptly taken into custody for questioning in Kilgoris.
The arrest comes in the wake of a tragic incident that unfolded last week in Olemismis village, where two prison officers lost their lives after being lured to settle a matter related to a Sacco with Ndiwa.

Inspector Patrick Mukunyi Kuya and Senior Sergeant Daniel Nairimo had embarked on a journey from Nairobi, reportedly to address the loan default issue with Ndiwa, who had relocated to the rural outskirts after departing the city.
Upon arriving at Ndiwa's residence in Mentinkuar, the two officers encountered hostility from the suspect's family, who perceived them as intruders.
Allegedly, Ndiwa had misrepresented the situation to his family, labeling the officers as potential threats.
In the ensuing chaos, Ndiwa's sons launched a violent attack on the unarmed prison wardens, wielding arrows and machetes.
Kilgoris OCPD Jamleck Ngaruiya described the gruesome scene, revealing the extent of the injuries sustained by the victims, with one bearing multiple arrows lodged in his back and the other inflicted with deep lacerations.
