On Monday night, tragedy struck in the Riat area of Kisumu West sub-county as two individuals, including an officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), fell victim to a fatal stabbing allegedly carried out by criminals.
The incidents occurred separately but within the vicinity of Riat around 11 pm, as the victims were making their way home.
In the initial event, a 20-year-old man was ambushed by a group of four men on a motorbike who inflicted multiple stab wounds, resulting in his demise upon arrival at JOOTRH.
Shortly after, the same gang targeted a 42-year-old male DCI officer, who was also walking home at the time.
Mark Odhiambo, assistant Chief of Dago sub-location, reported that both victims sustained numerous visible stab wounds, although no belongings were taken by the assailants.
Investigations into the matter are underway by DCI officers in Kisumu West sub-county, with the four suspects still evading capture.
