Two middle-aged individuals tragically lost their lives on Monday after a fatal accident occurred while they were painting a building in the Makutano area of Meru County.
According to initial findings, the crane they were using to carry out the painting work experienced a mechanical failure while they were working on the fourth floor, resulting in the devastating incident.
Ezekiel Chepkony, the North Imenti OCPD, confirmed the occurrence, stating that the crane, carrying three individuals, malfunctioned on Monday afternoon, causing all three occupants to plummet.
Sadly, two of the men succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while the third individual survived the fall and is currently receiving medical attention for the sustained injuries at a local medical facility.
Chepkony emphasized that an investigation is underway to determine whether the contractor adhered to the necessary safety protocols.
"At this moment, we cannot pinpoint the exact fault, but investigations are ongoing," Chepkony stated. "Once concluded, we will uncover the truth and take legal action against anyone found culpable."
