KUCCPS Extends Deadline For University Applications

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has extended the deadline for online applications to higher education institutions.

Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, CEO of KUCCPS, announced on Friday that the deadline, previously set for February 22, 2024, has been moved to February 26, 2024.

This extension aims to accommodate 2024 KCSE students applying for university or college placements, ensuring no candidate misses out on the opportunity.

Dr. Wahome emphasized the commitment to inclusivity, stating, "KUCCPS has extended the application deadline to February 26, 2024. I assure all applicants that no one will be left behind."

The online portal, launched on February 7, 2024, has seen a higher number of degree applicants compared to those applying for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.

Dr. Wahome urged applicants with grades between C and E to explore TVET opportunities, particularly those with D+ and E grades, encouraging them to seek assistance from nearby TVET institutions.

While the application targets all Form Four leavers from years up to 2000, only 2023 candidates can apply for degree programs in universities through the portal.

Other candidates can apply for courses offered at institutions like the Open University of Kenya, TVET institutions, Teacher Training Colleges, and the Kenya Medical Training College.

The government, in collaboration with Huduma Centres, universities, and colleges nationwide, is assisting applicants through the process. A list of support centers is available on KUCCPS's website.
