Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has addressed allegations regarding a photo depicting a woman seated behind him without underwear during a recent event in Kitui. In a statement, Sonko clarified:
He conducted thorough investigations into the matter, reviewing original photos and videos from the Anzauni clan function where the incident allegedly occurred.
Sonko asserts that the photo in question, showing a woman exposing herself, has been manipulated through photoshop. He claims to have compared it extensively with the original images and found discrepancies.
While acknowledging that various women occupied the seat behind him, which was reserved for CS Penina Malonza, Sonko emphasizes the need to protect the dignity and respect of all individuals, regardless of their association.
He appeals to anyone in contact with the woman in the photo to reach out to him or bring her to his offices for counseling and support for her and her family.
Sonko advises media personnel and bloggers to exercise discretion when capturing images of politicians, particularly during warm weather when some women may opt not to wear underwear.
He urges them to refrain from zooming in on intimate areas and suggests focusing on more appropriate angles.
Sonko's statement aims to dispel the controversy surrounding the photo while advocating for sensitivity and respect towards all individuals involved.
