Security authorities in Kabondo Kasipul are currently probing an incident involving the discovery of the lifeless body of a 50-year-old woman in River Awach within the constituency.

Caroline Akoth met an untimely demise under unclear circumstances after being reported missing for a span of two days.

Akoth vanished from her farm on Friday, where she was engaged in cultivating her land at Ogenga village in Kasewe location.

Her family raised the alarm about her disappearance before eventually locating her lifeless body.

As of now, the circumstances surrounding her death remain unknown.

Chief Dickson Samba of Kasewe location has reported the incident to the police, initiating an investigation to unravel the details of what led to the woman's demise.

According to Samba, the discovery of Akoth's body, ensnared among reeds and twigs in the river waters, prompted the involvement of law enforcement. The matter is now in the hands of the police for further inquiry.

On Monday, Samba revealed that inquiries with the deceased woman's family indicated no apparent signs of distress prior to her disappearance.

The family had been actively searching for Akoth after she failed to return home from the farm.

The discovery of her body occurred on Sunday morning, as her husband reported realizing her absence when checking on her at the farm. Subsequently, a two-day search led to the grim discovery before authorities were alerted.

Police officers from Othoro station, led by Subcounty Commander Justus Kucha, were notified and visited the scene to recover the body.

The remains were then transported to Jawabu mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Security officials are hopeful that the autopsy will shed light on the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.

Kucha urged residents in the area to promptly report cases of missing persons, emphasizing their commitment to interrogating family members and conducting postmortems to determine the cause of death.
