City pastor Victor Kanyari has opened up about the tragic death of his 24-year-old sister, Starlet Wahu, who was brutally murdered on Thursday at an Airbnb in South B.

The lifeless body of the popular socialite was found in a pool of blood inside the apartment after spending a night with the now-identified prime suspect, 34-year-old John Matara.

Expressing shock and sorrow, Pastor Kanyari disclosed that the family had no previous acquaintance with Matara, and they learned about him only after Wahu's death.

He described the incident as tragic for both the family and Wahu's friends, wishing her soul to rest in peace. Recalling their last meeting on New Year's Eve during a family gathering, Kanyari expressed heartbreak over the loss, highlighting Wahu's positive trajectory in life.

Wahu was laid to rest on Saturday, January 6, at her parents' home in Kamulu, Nairobi County. The cause of her death was reported to be stab wounds to the head and right thigh during the incident. Matara, identified as the prime suspect, was arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations into the dreadful Thursday incident continue.

The sequence of events leading to the discovery of Wahu's body unfolded as video footage captured her and Matara entering Papino Apartments before disembarking on the fourth floor to their rented room.

The AirBnB's owner, Florence Ngina, reported to authorities that Matara hastily left the premises on Thursday morning, wearing blood-stained clothes. Ngina, informed by a security guard, rushed to the scene and discovered the locked apartment from the outside. Using a spare key, she gained access to find Wahu's lifeless body in the living room.

Promptly filing a report at South B police station, Ngina's actions led to the involvement of DCI officers. Police reports indicated signs of a struggle at the crime scene, with the apartment appearing bloody, disarrayed, and chaotic.

Additionally, disturbing items were discovered, including HIV testing kits, used condoms, marijuana, alcohol, and a blood-stained kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the motives behind this tragic incident.
