In a hurry? Here’s a quick summary…
A casual worker, Victor Ambeyi, was arrested for murdering his 78-year-old employer, Catherine Waceke Kimotho, and hiding her body in a septic tank in Kasarani after a dispute over wages.
Ambeyi, who sold the victim’s phone before fleeing, was tracked down and arrested alongside his cousin and the shop owner who bought the phone.
Detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a 78-year-old woman who had employed him as a casual worker at her home in Nyathain, Kasarani.
The suspect, identified as Victor Ambeyi, is accused of killing Catherine Waceke Kimotho and attempting to hide her body in a septic tank on her property.
Catherine went missing on Saturday evening while at home with Ambeyi, one of her male employees.
When her family was unable to reach her by phone, they notified the police, who promptly began investigations to trace her movements.

It was soon discovered that both Catherine and Ambeyi were missing, with their mobile phones switched off, raising further suspicion.
A thorough search of the property and surrounding area ensued. On Sunday evening, detectives made a grim discovery—a female body wrapped in blankets and submerged in a septic tank near the cowshed on Catherine’s property.
The body was positively identified by her family, revealing signs of blunt force trauma to the back of her head, indicating a brutal attack.
Ambeyi, who had been on the run since the incident, was tracked down through forensic analysis.
A team of detectives, led by Kasarani DCIO Justus Ombati and assisted by the Criminal Research and Intelligence Bureau in Nairobi, followed clues to Kinoo, Nairobi, where they arrested him while hiding at his cousin’s home. Both Ambeyi and his cousin were taken into custody.
Investigations revealed that Ambeyi, a native of Kakamega County, had worked as a casual laborer for Catherine for about a month.
During questioning, he confessed to attacking her after an argument over payment, claiming he was paid less than they had agreed upon.
He expressed remorse, stating that his attempt to dispose of her body in the septic tank was meant to conceal his crime.
In a related development, detectives also recovered Catherine’s mobile phone at a shop in Githurai 44, where Ambeyi had sold it.
The shop owner, who had purchased the phone without proper documentation, was arrested as well.
Ambeyi is currently detained at Kasarani Police Station, awaiting court proceedings alongside his two accomplices.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities prepare charges in connection with the tragic incident.
