A petition has been filed to halt the appointment of opposition-allied leaders John Mbadi, Hassan Joho, Opiyo Wandayi, and Wycliffe Oparanya to President William Ruto's Cabinet.
Julius Ogogoh, representing the Commission for Human Rights and Justice, argues that their inclusion in the Cabinet would create a conflict with the opposition's constitutional role of overseeing government operations.
The petition asserts that as members of the official opposition coalition in the National Assembly, these leaders have a constitutional duty to oversee the Executive and other government branches.

Their appointment to Cabinet positions would, according to the petition, undermine this oversight responsibility and disrupt the checks and balances established by the Constitution.
Furthermore, the petition claims that this move constitutes a significant infringement on the constitutional rights of Kenyan citizens.
It argues that such appointments violate the Constitution and betray the trust placed in the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance and the Orange Democratic Party by the people of Kenya.
