Initially peaceful protests across the country were later marred by violence as individuals infiltrated the Nairobi Central Business District and various other areas, vandalizing and stealing from businesses.
The Gen Z activists who initially led the protests had maintained a peaceful stance with both the police and local businesses.
However, the situation deteriorated as looters began targeting shops and clashing with law enforcement by throwing stones.
