Body Of Man Found At Wanyiba Falls In Kirinyaga

On Sunday, the lifeless body of an unidentified man was discovered at Wanyiba Falls in the Rwamuthambi River, located in Kirinyaga County. 

Local residents, who had gone to the river to fetch water around 5:00 pm, stumbled upon the body and promptly alerted the authorities at the Kiamaciri police station. Police swiftly responded to the scene.

This isn't the first such occurrence at Wanyiba Falls. On October 27, 2023, the body of a Kenya Defence Force (KDF) officer was also found at the same location. The officer was later identified and laid to rest at his Kagio farm.

Chrispina Gathoni, the assistant chief of Muthigi, expressed concern over the rising incidents of bodies being discovered in rivers and along roads in Kirinyaga.

Recently, on March 14, 2024, the naked body of an unidentified woman was found dumped near rice farms in Cumbiri along the Mutithi-Kandongu-Kagio route. The body was transported to Kerugoya mortuary.

Prior to that, two weeks earlier, another deceased woman was found dumped at Rukanga along the Makutano-Sagana highway. She was later identified as a blogger from Tharaka Nithi County.

The body recovered on Sunday has been transferred to the mortuary at Kerugoya referral hospital, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
