The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, on behalf of the government, extends a warm invitation to Kenyans aged 18-35 to participate in a complimentary training initiative named 'Finya Computer Itoe Dollar'.
This program aims to empower individuals with essential digital skills crucial for today's job market.
In an announcement shared through a poster on X, the ministry disclosed that the training will encompass diverse courses such as data entry, digital marketing, virtual assistance, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for graphic design.
Scheduled to commence from March 4th to March 8th, 2024, the four-day training will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Prospective applicants must be Kenyan citizens possessing proficient computer skills and fall within the age bracket of 18 to 35 years.
"The primary objective of this initiative is to furnish young people with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes for online work, enabling them to access decent employment opportunities and generate income within the Gig & Freelancing Economy," stated the ministry.
This initiative aligns with President William Ruto's vision to bolster digital employment in Kenya, despite facing criticism from some Kenyan citizens.

Na nimepanga ajira ya hawa vijana kufanya iyo kazi. Nyinyi vijana wa hapa kazi yenyu ni mbili... Ku appear huko kufundishwa, na kufinya computer uweke dollar mfukoni," he remarked during an event in Bungoma County on February 2nd.
"Wewe utashindwa kufinya computer ndio upate pesa? Na wewe sasa ukishindwa kufinya computer nitakusaidia namna gani?" he inquired, highlighting the skepticism some hold towards the correlation between digital skills and financial success.
