Kenya Airports Authority Reveals Innovative Electric Commuter Bus Service Connecting JKIA

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has introduced new electric commuter bus routes connecting Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to various key destinations within Nairobi. 

This initiative has been established through a collaboration between KAA, Metrotrans East Africa Limited, and Super Metro Limited.

KAA's decision to launch electric commuter buses reflects its commitment to innovation, sustainable transportation, and enhancing the passenger experience. 

Mohammed Daghar, the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Transport, emphasized the numerous advantages associated with electric buses.

He pointed out their environmental benefits, cost-effectiveness, and quieter operation, contributing to a more tranquil environment for both passengers and airport personnel.

Caleb Kositany, Chairman of the KAA Board, emphasized their dedication to reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmental sustainability. 

As part of their environmentally conscious initiatives, KAA staff are actively participating in a tree-planting campaign, aligning with the national goal of planting 2 billion trees. 

Kositany also highlighted that the introduction of these electric buses represents a significant step toward their objectives of environmental stewardship and providing a seamless, eco-friendly travel experience.

Furthermore, these new buses have been equipped with enhanced accessibility features, including wheelchair ramps, ensuring that the services are inclusive and accessible to all passengers.
