The suspect, identified as Mbuvi, confessed to killing his partner, Serah, following a disagreement linked to another man.
Kyethani Location Chief, Mwikali Musili, confirmed the incident, explaining that Mbuvi had been working for Serah and they had developed a romantic relationship. However, tensions arose when another man from Garissa entered the picture.
According to Chief Musili, Mbuvi and Serah lived together as a couple. Recently, when the new man arrived, conflicts began to surface.
In the wake of one such disagreement, Mbuvi, who was not well-known in the area, ended Serah's life by hitting her with a piece of wood.
Following the murder, Mbuvi reportedly confessed to the crime. Enraged neighbors, upon hearing the confession, attacked him.
The police struggled to rescue him from the mob that was determined to exact their own justice.
Mbuvi was subsequently taken to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital for treatment before being processed and arraigned in court.
David Mbuvi, the brother of the deceased, recounted that he received a call from a neighbor informing him of the incident.
He also revealed a chilling detail: a few days prior, during a family event at the homestead, the suspect ominously predicted that death would visit the home before the end of the week. Unfortunately, this grim prediction came true.
The body of the deceased was transported to Mwingi Level 4 Hospital mortuary, as the community grapples with the shocking loss and the unfolding investigation continues.
