Linda Mwananchi Leaders Move to Sue PS Omollo

A group of Linda Mwananchi leaders has threatened to initiate private prosecution proceedings against Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations John Onyango, alleging persistent harassment of their supporters.

Led by Siaya Governor James Orengo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, the leaders claimed the state is deliberately targeting their supporters with fabricated charges.

“You are not above the law,” Orengo said, addressing Omollo and Onyango.

The opposition figures further accused the two officials of undermining efforts to curb hooliganism, describing them as a weak link in maintaining law and order.

Babu Owino criticized DCI officers, accusing them of targeting ordinary Kenyans, and alleged that PS Omollo has been particularly focused on pursuing young people.

The remarks were made at the DCI headquarters, where the Linda Mwananchi group had gone to seek an audience with senior officials. They warned that legal action would follow if alleged harassment and acts of violence against their supporters continued.

Orengo also urged the National Police Service to uphold its independence and carry out its constitutional mandate without external influence, claiming there is a broader scheme to intimidate leaders opposed to the current administration.
